4 Best Spider-Man Versions to debut in the MCU

No Way Home is the ideal conclusion to Spider-Man’s 20-year film career. The film was wildly successful, earning nearly 2 billion dollars worldwide despite not being released in China. With phases 5 and 6 announced, fans learned they would not get a Spider-Man movie anytime soon. However, Sony and Disney will definitely find a way to reintroduce the beloved character within the MCU. So, here is my list of the 4 best Spider-Man versions to debut in the MCU after Holland.

1. Amazing Spider-Man

1 on 4 Best Spider-Man Versions

Andrew Garfield was dedicated to portraying Peter Parker to the best of his ability. The same could not be said about Sony, which saw the project as a simple cash grab. Heavily influenced by the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, we see Peter as an arrogant, intelligent, and athletic child. In addition to having terrible villains, this series did not sit well with fans. After two films, the series was cut, and Disney partnered with Sony to do a reboot.

Garfield revealed in several interviews how much it broke his heart to not portray the hero how he intended. Garfield gives a memorable performance upon his return in “No Way Home.” The talk to Holland about becoming bitter after losing Gwen and not wanting that life for his little brother was heart-wrenching. Also, the scene where Garfield saves MJ from the same fatal fall that killed his own girlfriend was the icing on the cake.

After “No Way Home,” many fans gave Garfield the respect he deserved and expressed wanting him to complete his trilogy. With Holland stepping down, I could not think of a better time to have The Amazing Spider-Man 3. We need Sony and Disney to make the right decision.

2. Miles Morales

2 on 4 Best Spider-Man Versions

Many fans fell in love with Miles during the 2018 film “Into the Spider-Verse.” A post-credit scene in the 2017 film “Spider-Man: Homecoming” reveals that Miles does exist in the MCU universe 616, showing Aaron (Miles’ uncle) having a phone call with him. It’s likely that Miles is a young kid at this point and did not blip, having lived a normal life following the events of Infinity Wars.

Holland has expressed wanting the character to appear in the MCU and for himself to be a mentor for the young Spider-Man. Fans would love to see this relationship form within the MCU. Personally, I’ve read quite a few Miles comics and would be screaming at the top of my lungs if I saw this teacher-student relationship form. It can also do a lot for diversity, bringing in new fans who see a bi-racial character portray the web-slinging hero.

3. Ghost Spider / Spider-Gwen

3 on 4 Best Spider-Man Versions

She is portrayed by the character Gwen Stacy and is voiced by Hailee Steinfeld in the film “Into the Spider-Verse.” Her origin story is set in a parallel universe where Gwen is bitten by a radioactive spider and gains spider powers. She initially uses her powers for her own benefit but has a realization when Peter Parker dies. From that point on, Gwen decides to use her powers for good.

While we have not seen Gwen appear in the main MCU timeline, there is no better time for her debut than the Multiverse Saga. We have not seen a female Spider Hero take the mantle yet in the MCU, and this is definitely my #1 choice if that were to happen. Unfortunately, she will not be played by Hailee Steinfeld since she recently took on the role of Kate Bishop, aka Hawkeye’s apprentice. Nonetheless, I would love for this to happen.

4. Spider-Woman

Jessica Drew is a female clone of Peter Parker created by Doc Ock and appears in the Ultimate Spider-Man comics. She shares all the memories and powers of Peter Parker. She is a well-rounded character who uses her powers for good, much like the original She also has connections with groups like the Ultimates and the Shield. Another creative way for the MCU to introduce a female spider hero while paying respect to Holland’s performance as Spider-Man.
