Hey everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. Boruto Chapter 86 was just released and ends on a cliffhanger that will lead to a fan service fight. We learn several new facts in this chapter, and I’m here to discuss them along with the biggest questions that I still have. Without further ado, here are my 4 New Reveals in Boruto Chapter 86.
1. Shikamaru hasn’t become the 8th Hokage yet
After Boruto appears in the village, Shikamaru meets with the elders. We learn that Shikamaru hasn’t become the 8th Hokage yet, as he requested a 3-year timeframe before taking office. Most likely, because he believes that Naruto is still alive or that Konohomaru will be able to take over the Hokage role.
I like the choice of Shikamaru not wanting to take the position. Like his father, Shikadai, he has the intellect of a Hokage but wouldn’t like the attention or the extra work that the title brings. He’s more suited for being the Hokage advisor or a lieutenant in times of war.
2. There’s no relationship between Eida and Kawaki
In this chapter, it seems like Kawaki has no romantic feelings for Eida. Both are in their late teens, and it’s disappointing that they’re not in a relationship. This whole situation with Omnipotence surfaced with Eida’s desire to have a relationship with Kawaki. She was even willing to lie to the Leaf Village about Naruto being dead for him.
Their relationship seems to have gotten more tense over the past three years. Eida informs him about the Shinju’s plan to devour Naruto. Kawaki quickly cuts her off when she’s about to inform him that they also want to eat her. You can see further tension in their relationship when Eida asks Kawaki where he’s going, and he tells her to spy on him with her powers to find out. I think it’s safe to say that these two won’t be in a relationship anytime soon.
3. Mitsuki has become Kawaki’s bodyguard
In Part 1, Mitsuki had an unhealthy obsession with Boruto. He would often call Boruto his coveted sun. When Omnipotence took effect, it caused him to believe that Boruto was the enemy trying to kill his coveted sun, Kawaki. After the events three years ago, Mitsuki became Kawaki’s bodyguard and would be by his side whenever possible, much to Kawaki’s annoyance.
Upon hearing that Boruto was back in the village, Mitsuki was the first to attack him. For next month’s chapter, we’ll get an epic fight between Sage Mode Mitsuki and Boruto. I can’t wait, as this match has the makings to be incredible.
4. Omnipotence is weakening
Lately, it has been clear that Omnipotence will break sooner or later. Daemon made a note during that conversation between Eida and Kawaki. If the Shinju avatars arrive in the village looking for Naruto, everyone will discover that Kawaki is lying to them. Then they’ll realize that Sarada and Sumire’s story about Boruto and Kawaki swapping lives is also true.
You can already see it happening in the Leaf Village, with Shikamaru believing in Amado’s story of overwritten memories. The story was so compelling that he decided to warn Boruto about Mitsuki’s attack through an illegal communication channel so nobody would find out. He’s also giving additional resources to help the rogue ninja navigate through the village easier, as long as Boruto does a favor for Shikamaru.
The biggest questions from Boruto Chapter 86
Now that we’ve looked at the 4 new reveals in Boruto Chapter 86, let’s look at the biggest questions I still have after reading this chapter. Which include the following:
1. What does Shikamaru want from Boruto?
Boruto has found a new ally in Shikamaru, who went against the Leaf Village’s back to protect the rogue Shinobi. But I still wonder what this favor is that Shikamaru wants. I’m hoping it’s something that can reverse the effects of Omnipotence and get the Leaf Village back to normal.
If anyone can come up with such a plan, it’s Shikamaru. He came up with some incredible strategies during the 4th Great Ninja War, and I’m hoping he can do the same now. But we’ll have to wait and see to find out.
2. What will Kawaki’s punishment be?
Whenever people realize that omnipotence is a lie, I’d hate to be Kawaki. I don’t think even Naruto or Hinata will take a liking to him, knowing that he cost them four years of family life. On top of that, the village will treat him like an outsider again. He’ll probably get banned from the Leaf Village, but I’m sure Boruto will defend him, as Naruto did with Sasuke. The two are practically brothers, after all.
3. How will Sakura react upon finding out what happened to Sasuke?
Now that Boruto has revealed Sasuke’s fate to Sarada, it’s only a matter of time before she tells her mom, Sakura, the truth. She has always been noble to Sasuke, and I feel this news would devastate her. But it will also motivate her to help the younger generation save her best friend and husband from danger. It’s time for her to step up once again and save the Leaf Village.
