Disney will overwhelm fans with Star Wars Content this year.

It has been clear that 2023 is the year that Disney will overwhelm fans with Star Wars Content. Having multiple projects scheduled for a single year is dangerous, especially given the position that the company is currently in. But we’ll get to that soon.

For some of you older readers, you may ask how Star Wars got into the hands of Disney. It all started in 2012 when Star Wars joined the Mouse House after Disney bought the property rights from George Lucas for $4 billion. Disney had planned to expand the Star Wars universe as much as possible outside of the first six movies that we already had.

Live Action TV series opened up new doors for Star Wars

The Mandalorian. Disney will overwhelm fans

Around the launch of Disney+ in 2019, Disney decided to try something new by releasing a live-action Star Wars show called The Mandalorian. The series follows the adventures of the Mandalorian Din Djarin and a force-sensitive baby named Grogu (Baby Yoda). The series is set 5 years after The Return of the Jedi and was a big hit amongst viewers. The show paid respect to all projects showing characters like Luke Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, and Bo Katan from previous Star Wars series.

Several Star Wars series. Disney will overwhelm fans

Since the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, Disney+ has also introduced three additional live-action shows: The Book of Boba Fett, Kenobi, and Andor. All three TV shows have performed well. Disney + plans to release several more TV shows this year alone, along with a new movie set to hit theatres this Christmas. It is clear that Disney will increase the Star Wars content and expand the universe as much as possible in 2023.

Comparing the 2 Disney Giants

At the same time, the MCU appears to be falling more rapidly each year. It’s impossible to avoid comparing the MCU and Star Wars franchises because Disney owns both giants. Each time they are released, the MCU and Star Wars films gross hundreds of millions, if not billions. There is a long list of renowned actors featured in both franchises, including Samuel L. Jackson and Natalie Portman, in addition to the fact that they share creators like Jon Favreau.

On average, the MCU releases three movies and several TV shows per year. Thankfully this year, Disney CEOs Bob Iger and Kevin Feige recently stated that they would be slowing down on TV shows. Most likely because of the bad reviews that Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk were getting. It was clear that Disney was biting off more than they could chew.

With Star Wars, much like the MCU, there is a vast amount of content, from comics to novels. That Disney can use to create a lot of TV shows and movies. The question is: “Will Star Wars get to be like Marvel?” Three Star Wars films and a couple of TV shows would give fans extreme fatigue over the content.

When will too much be enough?

So, after reviewing the facts, it is clear that Disney will overwhelm fans with Star Wars Content in 2023. After watching the disaster of the MCU, fans prefer quality over quantity. If Disney gets to a point where it’s creating lazy projects and putting a Star Wars logo on them. Fans will roll their eyes whenever something new releases. I consider myself lucky, as I grew up an MCU fan (since Iron Man) and have grown tired of the content. But fell in love with the world of Star Wars during the pandemic.

It will be interesting to see what Disney does going forward. No doubt they will have to slow down the Star Wars content after Bob Iger’s statement.
