Over the past few years, it has been clear that Attack on Titan’s final season is being milked. But most fans are unaware of why this is happening. This article explains just that, but before we take it there, let’s rewind to the beginning. Back when AOT was still on the rise to fame.

The Come Up

Eren, Mikasa, and Armin. Attack on Titan's Final Season is being milked

Throughout its run, Attack on Titan has become an extremely popular anime. The series follows a young boy named Eren Yeager, whose life gets turned upside down when his home gets invaded by Titans (giant humanoid creatures). His mother ends up getting eaten by a Titan right in front of him.

A few years later, Eren enlists in the army with his friends Mikasa and Armin to defend regular citizens from the Titans. As you dive further into the series, you learn more about Eren’s family history and realize that he might be the key to ending all this chaos.

The Never Ending Final Season

I began watching AOT when the final season was announced. I caught up right when the last couple of episodes were about to air. You can imagine how annoyed I was to find out that the final season would be split into two parts. Not wanting to wait another year to find out how the story ends, I read the manga to finish the series. Without giving any spoilers, I will say that I was pretty upset with the ending. It felt like a massive buildup that led to nowhere.

Since that announcement, Part 2 has finished airing, and we learned there will be a Part 3 split into two halves. The first half recently aired, and the second half will air later this year. A single season has been split into four parts spanning over 3 years. I still watch the episodes as they air because I enjoy seeing how the fights are animated from the manga. But I’m not eager like other fans, who only watch the anime and refuse to read the manga.

Is MAPPA responsible for the fall of AOT?

7 of the 9 Titans. Attack on Titan's Final Season is being milked

MAPPA Studios took control of AOT during the initial final season back in 2021. The studio has other big names, like Ju-Jutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man. But they planned to milk Attack on Titan to the absolute max. As of now, no spin-offs of the series have been announced. So, they want to cash out on the final season as much as possible.

Unfortunately, MAPPA will take advantage of the content so they can profit from streaming views on different platforms. Currently, Attack on Titan is available on Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Hulu. That seems like a bit much. But when you want to cash out on views, it makes sense.

How will fans react when they see the finale?

So overall, that concludes why Attack on Titan’s Final Season is being milked. Many fans have lost interest in the series due to the three-year stretch of the final season. A ton of my friends gave up on the anime and have just read the manga to finish up the series.

I think even more fans will be upset when they finally watch the ending and become angry that they waited 3 years for such a mediocre finale. It will feel like Game of Thrones all over again in 2019.

So what do you guys think? Is MAPPA taking advantage of Attack on Titan by milking the last season’s content? Let me know in the comments. If you like this post, check out my Dragonball Super recap post. Thank you so much for reading, and until next time.
