After taking a 2-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Marvel came back with loads of content between 2021-2022 including: 8 TV shows, 7 movies and a holiday special. To conclude Wakanda Forever is wrapping up phase 4 of the MCU. Many fans have voiced their concerns over the future of the franchise.

Altogether phase 4 felt rushed and incomplete (except for Shang-Chi and No Way Home).  They also have not done particularly great in the box office when you compare them to their predecessors.

Despite the shortcomings of the MCU there have still been many characters who have stepped up after the events of Endgame. Let’s take a look at the Best 5 Heroes in Phase 4 of the MCU.

1. Scarlet Witch

#1 on the list is Scarlett Witch. Best 5 Heroes in Phase 4 of the MCU.

Okay technically not a hero in this movie but what a performance all the same! The Scarlet Witch is one of the few characters who is capable of taking down Thanos. She was a total badass in Multiverse of Madness. Being able to annihilate the illuminati from Universe 838 single handedly via dreamwalk.

However, on a more personal note. The pain that Wanda endures after losing Vision and wanting to find happiness through her children. Is something that anyone who has lost a loved one can relate to. Hats off to Elizabeth Olsen for this portrayal.

The Scarlet Witch has got to be my second favorite villain in the MCU (next to Killmonger). Although it does seem that she dies at the end of the movie I’m sure Kevin Feige will find a creative way to bring her back.

2. Spider-Man

#2 on the list is Peter Parker.

Tom Holland’s iteration of Peter Parker has always come off as spoiled. Having the luxury of Tony Stark making him multiple high-tech web-slinging suits back when he was still alive. Not to mention the dozens of allies he has in the Avengers. That all changes with No Way Home.

To me this movie was a true journey to Holland’s Peter Parker finally becoming the Spider-Man we all know and love. But in a completely new light.  The one who is willing to give up his friends, family, and resources if it means saving the world.

The advice that Maguire and Garfield gave Holland was extremely heart-felt. Almost 20 years of memories captured perfectly in this film and I couldn’t be happier with the story. Whether Holland decides to continue being Spider-Man or not it’ll be interesting to see what the MCU decides to do with the hero in the future.

3. Wong

#3 on the list is Wong.

A hero who has stepped into the mentor shoes while Nick Fury has been off world.  Wong started off as a teacher to Doctor Strange back in 2016 but has slowly been reaching out to other heroes in the MCU.   Here are some of the things he’s done over the course of phase 4 alone.

  • Help Shang Chi determine the origins of the 10 rings,
  • Become the Master Sorcerer Supreme
  • Help Strange battle the Scarlet Witch
  • Teaching America Chavez how to become a sorcerer
  • Go to She-Hulk to sue a former apprentice for using magic

With Wong’s role in phase 4 alone it won’t be a surprise to see him in his own movie eventually. He’ll definitely have the fans backing him up when that day comes.

4. Shuri

#4 on the list is Shuri.

With T’Challa’s sudden death, Shuri is forced to find new and innovative ways to protect Wakanda without the Black Panther. That is until Namor appears posing as a threat to Wakanda. At which point Shuri has no choice but to become the Black Panther herself.

As I’ve mentioned in my previous post. Shuri and Queen Ramonda go through a tremendous amount of pain and suffering.  That anyone would go through when losing a close member of the family.  Capturing human emotion in the purest way possible. I applaud Lettia Wright and Angela Basset for their performances in this film.

5. Shang-Chi

#5 on the list is Shang- Chi.

Easily my 2nd favorite origin film (next to Iron Man) in the MCU.   I loved everything about this movie from the costumes, action sequences, comedy and CGI. Not to mention the references we got to the Iron Man trilogy.

This movie kicks off phase 4 with a bang and brought a whole new culture to the MCU. As you know I grew up a fan of anime and saw many references to my childhood including: DBZ, Pokemon and Princess Monoke.  Definitely brought a smile to my face and easily the second best movie in phase 4 (next to No Way Home).

Any Heroes I missed?
